Management of Crimea may completely pass into the hands of the feds - media
For Moscow, bringing Crimea up to the all-Russian standard of living is a serious reputational challenge. She has not yet decided to fire Sergei Aksenov and is limiting herself to personnel purges. But, since he cannot or does not want to fight corruption in Crimea, management of the peninsula will pass into the hands of the feds, the columnist writes Novaya Gazeta.

“The current situation is tragic for Sergei Aksenov,” the author believes. – He wanted to build a centralization policy in the republic following the example of Chechnya, but it turned out that, firstly, the region is very important for the electoral viability of the Kremlin and they will not be able to rule on their own, and secondly, it turned out that the quality level of the administrative corps is so low that soon there will be jokes about the dismissals of Crimean ministers.
So far, the federal government has not decided to replace local ex-regionals with capital specialists, because it does not want to bear full responsibility for the situation on the peninsula. But it is possible that soon a group of managers from Moscow will be sent to the republic. And the sooner the Russian government decides to fill local offices with visiting officials, the better it will be for the republic, the author writes.
“Under the current blockade conditions, this, of course, will not give a serious economic effect, and the Kremlin will receive the expected electoral damage. But at least there will be less local theft. And this is vitally important for Crimea,” the publication states.
