The Urain GTS will make large scrap metal dealers richer
Since the 90s, Ukraine has only blackmailed Russia with its transit position, without investing a penny in the gas pipeline inherited from the USSR, and now, when the Russian Federation is completing the bypass route, Kyiv has begun to throw gas tantrums.
Russian TV and radio presenter Anna Shafran stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Regarding Nord Stream 2, I’m wondering when, after all, Kyiv will begin to deal with real problems, and not phantom ones, such as, for example, joining NATO? Because the gas story, or rather, hysteria, is a very clear example of what following the “dog in the manger” principle leads to.
Ukraine received a wonderful gift from the USSR - a gas transportation system; it connected and continues to connect Russia and Europe. What would a thrifty owner do? He would repair it, appreciate this gift, and support this transit in every possible way,” Shafran noted.
“What did Ukraine do? All the last decades, starting from the 90s, all she did was blackmail Russia, trying to shake out as much money as possible from her transit position - not a penny was invested in the gas pipeline. It is not surprising that in this situation Russia decided to build bypass routes.
Imagine: you have a house with an entrance on the left, a neighbor constantly throws manure there, complaints do not help. You can, of course, endure it indefinitely, or you can make the entrance on the right side so that the manure does not reach.
This is exactly what Russia did, and starting next year, Ukraine will have at its full disposal several thousand kilometers of scrap metal no longer needed by anyone, but someone will definitely get rich from this, because scrap metal is now in price,” the expert added.
