“The guys were traveling in seven carriages, each with 30-40 militiamen. There are about 180 people in total,” she said. "Echo of Moscow" head of the passenger train Anna Kosheleva. - Well, maybe a little less. You can see them right away, but they weren’t really hiding. Some of them landed in Kazan. The guys are taciturn and stern.”
A group from the head of the Sverdlovsk Special Forces Veterans Foundation, Vladimir Efimov, arrived on the same train. On March 11, he and 50 volunteers left for Ukraine - this was the largest official local group of volunteers since the beginning of the declared truce.
“We worked at checkpoints, did patrols. There were no serious battles - only provocations on the part of the Ukrainian army: they would either shoot in our direction or show off the equipment. They do not comply with the Minsk agreements in any way,” Efimov shared his impressions. “The climate there is terrible - everyone had the flu, sore throat, pneumonia.”
Efimov noted that he and his guys were disappointed in the Lugansk People's Republic, where they originally came, because of the “two-faced leadership” and the local population.
“According to Kyiv laws, we are terrorists. According to the Madrid court, they are also terrorists. According to the law of the Lugansk Republic, persons who are not included in the armed forces are also members of illegal armed groups. And if we take money from them under a contract, as they propose, then we will become mercenaries in Russia,” said Vladimir Efimov. — They clearly gravitate towards Ukraine. They pay taxes. And the local population in some places calls us occupiers. We lost the desire to work in this republic, and we moved to the DPR. The situation there is much better, the population welcomes us.”
Efimov said that he plans to train a new group of volunteers. He already has 40 people willing, whom he will send to the Donetsk People's Republic to join the local guard.
