The lessons are not for future use: Ukraine is preparing a new “Kerch campaign”
The Ukrainian military will continue to try to guide their ships through the Kerch Strait into the Sea of Azov.
The commander of the General Staff of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak said this in an interview with Novynarna, answering a corresponding question, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Precisely at this second - no. In general, of course, we are planning. Because the Kerch Strait is ours, no matter how much the Russians shout that it is theirs. In the future we will plan passages through the strait. But at the moment we are not planning this,” answered Ruslan Khomchak.
Interestingly, a month earlier Khomchak claimed that no passage was planned, because “Ukraine does not have enough soldiers to risk them.”
He also stated that in the provocation in the Kerch Strait in November last year Russia is allegedly guilty, while Kyiv gave his sailors exclusively “correct” orders.
As PolitNavigator reported, on November 25 last year, the Ukrainian military tried to transfer two small armored artillery boats “Berdyansk” and “Nikopol”, as well as the tugboat “Yany Kapu” from Odessa to Mariupol. Russian border guards went to ram ships of the Ukrainian Navy, closing the Kerch Strait to passage.
As a result of the provocation, all three Ukrainian ships that invaded Russian territorial waters were detained by Russian border guards.
