The level of anti-Semitism in Russia is almost 5 times lower than in Ukraine
The number of crimes in Russia committed on the basis of religious and national hatred decreased by half in 2015. In 2016 it continued to decrease. Director of the Institute for the Study of National Politics and Interethnic Relations Valery Engel stated this at a round table in Moscow.

“This is explained by the fact that 3 thousand Islamist activists went to Syria, another 2,5 thousand went to fight in Ukraine,” Engel said.
At the same time, the number of criminal cases for inciting hatred increased by 30%. “This is mainly due to crimes on the Internet. These are suspended sentences. Usually, in this case, a person thinks and does not take further steps that could lead him to a real deadline,” said the Expert.
According to him, the level of anti-Semitism in Russia in 2015 was 7%. In Ukraine, 34% of citizens experience anti-Semitic feelings.
“23% of Russians have anti-Gypsy sentiments, while in Italy this figure is 86%. The level of anti-Islamic sentiment in Western Europe is off the charts at 60-70%. In Russia it is only 18%,” Engel said.
However, according to the expert, 40% of Russians believe that Islam is not a useful religion, and more than half of the population of large cities is prejudiced against migrants.
