The level of Russophobia abroad has reached unprecedented levels
The level of aggression towards Russians abroad is unprecedented, and the law enforcement system is not always able to prevent manifestations of discrimination and violence.
Vladimir Andreev, Deputy Director of the Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry for Work with Compatriots Abroad, announced this at the round table “Mass violation of the rights of Russian compatriots abroad on the basis of citizenship, nationality and language: how to counteract this.”
“Having been fed lies about Russia from the media, many people simply consider themselves entitled to take revenge on the Russians,” he emphasized. “We have to collect all the information about the facts of aggression, racism and even Nazism towards Russians, as well as examples of effective response for the active use and dissemination of this experience in other countries.”
The Russian embassy and consulate will collect information about facts of oppression and aggression through organizations of compatriots abroad. In the future, it will be sent to international human rights structures - the UN, the Council of Europe, the OSCE.
In addition, it is necessary to develop response mechanisms from the authorities in the Russian Federation, human rights organizations and civil society.
“These could be proposals to change legislation, and proposals to include these issues on the agenda of bilateral relations,” Andreev concluded.
