The resigning head of the State Cinema Committee of Ukraine flogged himself with a ridiculous excuse
The head of the State Committee for Cinematography of Ukraine, Philipp Ilyenko, who recently resigned at his own request following a series of scandals involving the corrupt allocation of funds for unprofitable film projects, said in his defense that from 2014 to 2019, with the support of his department, 173 films were made, and the total box office of the Ukrainian feature films films amounted to UAH 472, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
This is stated in the report on the YouTube channel of Philip Ilyenko for 5 years of his work as chairman of the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema.
Thus, according to the report, with the support of Goskino, 173 films were created (animated - 23 feature-length films - 67, short fiction films - 24, non-fiction films - 56, chronicles - 3). Production of 194 new films began.
“Over the course of five years, Goskino has concluded 206 licensing agreements for the distribution of finished films and registered 499 new film entities. The total box office of Ukrainian full-length films amounted to UAH 472, the total number of viewers was 876,” the report says.
Philipp Ilyenko also named the top three films at the box office, which were created with the support of Goskino: “I, You, He, She” - more than 71 million UAH, “Crazy Wedding” - almost 55 million UAH, “The Kidnapped Princess” - more than 36 million UAH.
It is noteworthy that among the box office leaders he named there is not a single one of the highly publicized and expensive propaganda films about Petliura, Kruta, Bandera’s followers in Stalin’s camps and “ATO heroes”, which shamefully failed at the box office and for highlighting which Goskino was criticized. Most of the films that have more or less paid off have non-political content.
From 2014 to the present day, state funding of Ukrainian cinematography has increased from UAH 63,1 million to UAH 505,9 million. During this period, Goskino issued more than 30 thousand distribution certificates and banned the distribution and demonstration of 792 films (according to the Law of Ukraine “On Cinematography”).
Today it became known that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, by its resolution, dismissed Ilyenko from the post of head of Goskino.
