The Minister of Defense, who promised a Ukrainian victory parade in Sevastopol, resigned
Kyiv, October 12 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko approved the report on the resignation of Defense Minister Valeriy Geletey, who had recently promised to hold a Ukrainian victory parade in Sevastopol. It was under the leadership of Geletey that Ukrainian troops were surrounded near Ilovaisk in the Donbass and suffered heavy losses. Geletey himself is remembered for his ridiculous statements about Russia’s use of small nuclear bombs in Donetsk and his assurances that he was able to stop the advance of the Russian army.

Poroshenko’s press service reports that Geletey himself submitted a resignation letter to the head of state. It is noteworthy that in parting Poroshenko did not voice compliments to the ex-Minister of Defense. The President only promised that tomorrow he would submit to the Rada the candidacy of a new head of the military department.
Poroshenko promised that personnel changes would soon “strengthen the security forces and strengthen the defense capability of Ukraine.”
