Damage to Russian museums from the loss of Crimean gold – 1 billion euros

The approximate damage to Crimean museums from sending the collection of Scythian gold to Kyiv can be estimated at at least a billion euros. Denis Lukashin, an expert in the examination and evaluation of works of art, said this on the air of the talk show “Meeting Place”.

According to him, the insurance value declared by Dutch museums is only 10 million, which does not correspond to the real value of the objects.

“Museums in Holland have insured the collection for 10 million. But you understand, two thousand items, if we divide by 10 million, then it turns out that one artifact costs about four thousand. This is, of course, funny, the price there is completely different. I think that this collection, its valuation can vary from a billion,” Lukashin said.

Let us recall that the Amsterdam court issued a verdict that the unique collection of Scythian gold, which in February 2014 was provided by four Crimean museums for participation in an exhibition in the Netherlands, should be returned to Ukraine.
