Usyk refused to shout “Glory to Ukraine”
Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv, boxer Alexander Usik asked not to ask him questions about why he did not shout nationalist slogans, as the “patriots” demanded before the fight in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would ask those who are present not to remember the names of those who said some things about cowardice, about something else... If the shouting, which is already sitting in some people’s heads, would return peace to my country, if they raised pensions for pensioners, or (returned) smiles to those who don’t smile, I would scream 24 hours a day,” the athlete said.
Earlier, Ukrainian nationalist writer Larisa Nitsoy called Usik a coward for not shouting “Glory to Ukraine! Freedom for Kremlin prisoners! after defeating Murat Gassiev in Moscow.
