Poroshenko’s concessions are an attempt to avoid Putin’s offensive on Dnepropetrovsk and Kharkov
Kyiv, September 16 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Petro Poroshenko was forced to agree to a special status for Donetsk and Lugansk in order to avoid an attack by pro-Russian rebels on Kharkov, Odessa, Zaporozhye and other cities in southeastern Ukraine.
This was stated by Advisor to the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko.

“The Verkhovna Rada has just voted for the laws on amnesty and the special status of Donbass. Let's be honest - these laws are a consequence of the Minsk (Munich) agreements, concluded under the pressure of Putin's direct military threat in conditions when the West actually refused to continue to help Ukraine if it did not agree to the terms of reconciliation with Putin at the cost of granting greater rights to part of the Donbass, under the control of terrorists. This is a forced step due to our military and technical weakness,” he asserts.
“What choice did the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine have? Refuse to adopt these Laws, and the advance of Russian tank columns would continue towards Mariupol, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Kharkov, taking away more and more Ukrainian territory, while not a single country in the world has given its consent to supply us with weapons and openly support us in the confrontation with Russia,” Gerashchenko assures.
