“The new composition of the national regulator raised heat tariffs throughout Ukraine to 10-11 UAH per square meter. Of course, this is a disaster for the vast majority of the population. In Kyiv, for example, the tariff was 3,22 UAH per square meter. Now it has more than tripled. I can’t imagine how poor people will survive and pay for this.
This step was made to the benefit of the monopolist. The monopolist “shoves” everything he can into the tariff - the higher the costs, the higher the tariff and the profit of the monopolist. Why is it beneficial for a monopolist not to install meters? Because he will write so much on the receipt to get maximum profit. Until all residential buildings in the country are equipped with meters, this “inflation” of tariffs and consumers will continue.
The government should first of all start by installing meters and not by changing the composition of the National Regulatory Commission. And it is again dancing to the tune of the monopolists from the thermal power industry,” the expert believes.
