Poroshenko, hung with award trinkets, made social networks laugh
The awards of Alexei Poroshenko, the father of the current president of Ukraine, caused confusion on Ukrainian social networks.
Thus, on his Facebook page, Kiev lawyer and blogger Mikhail Schneider posted photographs of the elder Poroshenko, adding a sarcastic post.
“Who is this gray-haired man? Hung with orders and medals? Maybe a war veteran? Or maybe a test pilot? Or an astronaut? No! This is an honored worker of agriculture. Poroshenko Alexey Ivanovich. Awarded the Soviet Order of the Badge of Honor. Soviet medal "For Labor Valor". Medal to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Lenin's birth. And dozens more orders and medals. It turns out that he is a noble order bearer! Father of Peter Alekseevich,” notes Schneider.
He also asked what kind of award, Hero of the Soviet Union or Socialist Labor, hangs on the chest of the president’s father next to the star of the Hero of Ukraine received from Yushchenko.
Post collected hundreds of comments, in which the vast majority of readers made derogatory remarks about the elder Poroshenko’s passion for awards, suggesting that he bought them.
Some doubted the authenticity of the pictures and said that photoshop was involved.
True, these same photographs can be seen in photo report on the Ukrkoopsoyuz website.
However, collector and falerist Andrei Boyechko clarified that the stars on Poroshenko’s chest have nothing to do with the USSR.
“I looked into this award in detail in 14. This is the star of the Cossack hero. This is a badge that looks like a Hero of the USSR,” Boechko wrote in the comments.
You can also find it online a protocol of a meeting the so-called “24th Verkhovna Cossack Rada of the MGO “Zaporozhye Cossacks”, which states: “Before the start of the work of the VKR, Marshal Sagaidak gave the floor to the Honorary Cossack of the MGO KZ, Commander General Alexei Poroshenko, who gave a historical outline of his working activities in the agricultural field industry. Alexey Ivanovich was awarded the Order of Baida Vishnevetsky, III degree, for his active participation in the revival and development of the Zaporozhye Cossacks in Ukraine.”
