This opinion was expressed today at a press conference in Moscow by Vladimir Evseev, Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS Countries.
“Everyone was afraid that a change of power in Uzbekistan would lead to the collapse of the security system and the entire region would explode. Fortunately, this did not happen. The stable transfer of power is the merit of Karimov himself. An extremely powerful security system has been created in the republic. Karimov restrained the 7 clans existing there from an active struggle for power and did not allow radical Islam to rampant. He left a good legacy,” said Evseev.
According to the expert, it is extremely important that no laws were broken in Uzbekistan, and power passed to the head of the Senate for 3 months.
