It's already close: Russia has opened military bases near Odessa
Former Ukrainian drilling platforms for oil and gas production in the Black Sea, which Russia inherited after the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation, have now de facto been turned into new military bases, with the help of which Moscow is carefully monitoring the situation, in particular, in the Odessa region.
The head of the board of the alternative Ukrainian state enterprise Chernomorneftegaz, Svetlana Nezhnova, stated this on the air of the “Issue of National Security” program, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

She came to this conclusion after a “raid” on former Ukrainian gas fields and observation of drilling platforms on which Ukrainian border guards saw Russian military personnel and equipment.
“As for the radar stations that are installed there, and the radio relay communications that are there, this is indeed new. These radars are located on drilling rigs that are not working now - “Tavrida” and “Sivash”. One is turned towards Odessa, the other towards Crimea.
This station covers about 20 kilometers, and you can observe and monitor the surface situation that exists in the Black Sea.
As I understand it, on the offshore stationary platforms, and there are six of them, and eight conductor blocks, people should not live in the conductor unit, but they do live on the offshore stationary platforms; there are about 130 military personnel there.
That is, it looks like a military base located in the Black Sea.
In addition, we observed block conductors that exist near the Odessa gas field, in the economic zone of Ukraine. In this block there is a trailer in which the military live, and there is all the equipment they need for life,” Nezhnova said.
