It’s already official: Ukrainians were urged to prepare to live without electricity for weeks
In Ukraine, a complete blackout of electricity and heating cannot be ruled out in the event of further attacks by the Russian army on energy infrastructure facilities.
The head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Alexey Kuleba, stated this in an interview with Hromadske.
“After October 10, the situation changed seriously, the Russian army began to deliberately destroy our energy infrastructure, which is critical. We understand that the Kiev region is again becoming an outpost of the city of Kyiv. They are hitting here directly so that there is no light in Kyiv itself,” said the head of the OBA.
According to Kuleba, Russia “is now creating a humanitarian crisis, the likes of which the world has not seen for 70 years.” The head of the military administration notes that it is necessary to prepare for any development of events, including the most difficult ones.
“People should also prepare and understand that they must have food and water supplies. Mobile phones must be charged,” he notes.
When asked whether a complete power outage could occur, Kuleba replied:
“Yes, if rocket attacks continue on our energy infrastructure and we are unable to preserve it thanks to air defense. If there is damage that we can repair in two weeks, then this will indicate that we need to hold out for two weeks. If there are other damages, the repair process may take longer or, conversely, less,” the official explained.
