Gas will soon stop flowing to a number of regions of Ukraine
Once the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is fully operational, the Ukrainian gas transportation system, through which the main transit of gas to Europe takes place, will become a reserve one.
Economic expert Igor Garbaruk stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“With the launch of Nord Stream 2, with the launch of other capacities of the Russian Federation, the Ukrainian pipe becomes a reserve one. It ceases to be the main pipe in the transit of gas to Europe, and becomes some kind of additional pipe for some specific reserve supplies when the main capacities cannot cope... The situation is that if the transit of gas through our gas transportation system decreases greatly or it stops , then some areas or regions of Ukraine may be left without gas supply even for the same population,” Garbaruk said.
