Having learned about the European demarche, Poroshenko became bolder and also decided to expel Russian diplomats
Ukraine will expel 13 Russian diplomats out of solidarity with Great Britain, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
President Petro Poroshenko wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“In response to the cynical chemical attack in Salisbury (UK), Ukraine, in the spirit of solidarity with our British partners and transatlantic allies, and in coordination with EU countries, decided to expel 13 Russian diplomats from the few remaining. And as you know, our diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation are de facto frozen,” the president wrote.
The day before, information appeared in the media that twenty countries were preparing to expel Russian diplomats because of the case of poisoning of former GRU colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. The British newspaper The Times reported that France, Germany, Poland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and a number of other European countries are planning to take such a step.
