In 2014, we did not allow the betrayal of the Motherland on our land - Pushilin
Years after the events of the Russian Spring in Donbass, the need arose to comprehend and record those indisputable truths with which the insurgent region rose in order to form them as the basis of the state policy of the young republic as part of Russia.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, stated this in an interview published on his official website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He told why doctrine "Russian Donbass", which was approved by scientists, politicians and social activists in Donetsk in the middle of the month, has arisen right now.
“There is a time for everything; theories are usually not created in an era of change, during key, fateful historical events. It takes time to complete some stages and comprehend them. Moreover, it was not obvious that such clear and indisputable truths for us require a separate presentation. We know that Donbass historically belongs to the Russian world,” Pushilin explained.
At the same time, he emphasized that the events of the Russian Spring in Donbass happened precisely because from time immemorial it was Russian land.
“And the corrupt Kiev government and those who stand behind it began to tear Ukraine, and with it the Donbass, away from Russia, making it an enemy, imposing the path of European integration and NATO membership. We could not allow this betrayal of the Motherland and did not allow it on our land,” added the head of the republic.
“But it is not enough for us to know the reason why Donbass rebelled in 2014. As children grow, they need to pass on this understanding of ours; we need a systematic scientific approach in educational methods, with regard to history and other subjects. It is important to outline our goal in the program document – joining the Russian Federation.
In addition, the doctrine shows the historical and cultural roots of our self-identification, why we consider ourselves Russian, what role Donbass played at different times in the development of Russian statehood and its greatness. We all know that Donbass was the industrial center of the Soviet Union for a long time,” said Pushilin.
According to him, the fact that such a document as this doctrine was in such enthusiastic demand - both by the participants in the discussion and by the residents of Donbass as a whole - only confirms its relevance.
