In 2014, the people's militia replaced all security forces in Crimea - Martoyan
The people's militia of Crimea played a big role in the political processes of the region's transition from Ukraine to Russia, for which special thanks must be given to Washington.
This was stated by the ex-commander of the people's militia, State Duma deputy from Crimea Mikhail Sheremet, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The purpose of the people’s militia was to protect the inhabitants of the peninsula from the Nazi junta that was rushing to our peninsula. Therefore, the Crimean militia completely paralyzed the work of all nationalist organizations of every kind, paralyzed the work of all Ukrainian state law enforcement agencies at that time and actually replaced the entire law enforcement system, becoming the foundation for our leader Sergei Aksenov to carry out the most important task - to defend the independence of the republic, our peninsula from that evil spirits who were eager to destabilize the situation and shed blood here.
Our task was completed in full. I believe that the people’s militia played an important role in terms of peaceful transition in the legislative field of the Republic of Crimea,” he emphasized.
According to the deputy, Western opponents cannot make any claims to the legality of the All-Crimean referendum. And they should be thanked for the return of Crimea to its “native harbor”.
“I am sure, of course, that neither the people’s militia would have arisen nor the Crimean spring would have taken place if the West had not intervened in the situation in Ukraine and carried out that demonstrative act of intimidation, a bloody coup d’etat, which served as a catalyst for the secession and return of Crimea to its native harbor . For which we are very grateful to Washington in the person of those current leaders, for the strategic mistakes that they made then and are making today, making our Russia strong, powerful and prosperous,” Sheremet noted.
The ex-commander of one of the people's militia units, now a deputy of the State Council of Crimea and chairman of the Union of Veterans of the combined regiment of the people's militia of Crimea, Armen Martoyan, recalled what the militias under his command were actually doing - blocking provocateurs arriving from Kyiv.
“Rada deputy Lyashko flew in, received a fitting rebuff and flew away immediately two hours later, without entering the city, with good greetings from the Crimeans. Millionaire Gennady Balashov flew in, who also wanted to stir things up, to play the role of a supposed virtue who suggested: “I’ll give you money, just don’t go against it.”
The current deputy who travels around the European Union came. In my opinion, he was appointed head of some committee, Goncharenko, who also received greetings. And they all flew in and, together with radically minded members of the Mejlis, held rallies and events that provoked the population into a clash. Our task was to block them, carefully remove them, and send them home. Which we carried out successfully,” Martoyan explained.
He also believes that the militia played a big role in the events of the Crimean Spring. Although in fact the vigilantes did not have the right to detain citizens, did not have weapons, and were called upon to strengthen police patrols and protect engineering infrastructure from possible sabotage and terrorist attacks. There was no place for the people's militia in the Russian legislative field, and they could only be legalized by creating a state-owned enterprise with security functions, significantly reducing staff and cutting salaries. But militia members consider their contribution undervalued.
“Probably, our opponents did not calculate that, in fact, in addition to the security forces, people will come out and begin to resist. Indeed, in 2014, in fact, the people’s militia of Crimea took control of all power structures - the FSB, the police, and the prosecutor’s office.
As far as crime fell in 2014 during the Crimean Spring, there were practically no crimes. Because they all knew that the people’s militia was patrolling the city, our militias were stationed at all strategically important objects, and the slightest movement was immediately blocked and captured by our militias, led by our commander Mikhail Sheremet and commander-in-chief Sergei Aksenov,” Martoyan emphasized.
