“Armageddon” will come to Ukraine in 2019
In 2019, “Armageddon” will come in Ukraine - gas tariffs for the population will rise even higher, and the authorities have no plans to bring the country out of the crisis. Political scientist Alexey Yakubin stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, already at current prices more than half the population receives subsidies, and what will happen after the end of the current contract between Naftogaz and Gazprom is anyone’s guess.

“Currently, about eight million households in the country receive subsidies. This is a completely inadequate situation, because eight million households means at least two people in each household. It turns out that more than half of the country receives subsidies, and this, on the eve of the elections, makes people more dependent on the authorities.
It is obvious that if the authorities think about further increases, there will be no money. The authorities will find some reserves before the 2019 elections. And then it all ends. It turns out that in general, in the context of the gas system, we have this horizon of 2019, after which it is generally unclear what will happen. It is unclear what will happen to transit and what will happen to the population with these colossal subsidies and colossal gas prices. 2019 for our country is a transitional figure, after which Armageddon may come for the gas transportation system,” Yakubin said.
