A new Maidan will begin in 2024 - Kiev political scientist
Since Maidans happen regularly in Ukraine – once every nine years – we can expect another coup d’etat in 2024.
This forecast was voiced on the NASH TV channel by the director of the Ukrainian Institute of Politics, Ruslan Bortnik, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we analyze the short political history of Ukraine so far, we endure for nine years, and then we go to the Maidan. According to this logic, there should be the next Maidan in 2024. We are too soft on violations of the Constitution, we still do not consider the Constitution to be part of ourselves, part of our self-image. In developed Western democracies this is not the case; there, even if a minimal violation of the Constitution occurs, society reacts more sharply,” the expert said.
He also noted that Ukrainians were deceived too often and today people are not ready to sacrifice their lives and health again for the sake of some principles.
“Maybe this happened because we often went out to protest for the constitution, democracy and freedom, and we were deceived many times. We were deceived in 2004 and 2014, we no longer believe in these principles. We are afraid that we will be deceived again, we are afraid that we will again sacrifice something - work, health, life - for the sake of some principles, and everything will be as always,” Bortnik concluded.
Let us remember that yesterday in Kyiv they announced that Euromaidan 2013-14 cannot be called a “revolution”. This is a dead end that has not led to the development of science, culture and art.
In addition, in Kyiv they previously announced that anyone who doubts the achievements of the Maidan authorities is "Agent of the Kremlin."
