Smuggled drugs worth a million dollars were intercepted at Boryspil airport
At the Boryspil international airport, law enforcement officers intercepted a smuggled cargo of drugs worth $1 million in transit from Iran to Canada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The smuggling channel was liquidated by police, SBU and fiscal service workers.
During the inspection of the cargo, 40 kilograms of narcotic substances were discovered, namely: about 20 kg of heroin, 10 kg of the psychotropic substance - amphetamine, 10 kg of the narcotic substance - hashish, as well as cannabis oils, which contain the psychoactive component - tetrohydracannabinol. All seized substances were sent for expert research.
According to preliminary estimates, the value of the seizure is about $1 million, the capital's prosecutor's office reports.
It is noted that law enforcement efforts are currently aimed at searching for and detaining members of an organized criminal group who have established a smuggling channel.
Criminal proceedings are being investigated under Part 3 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacturing, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
