The Ukrainian Embassy in the Federal Republic of Nigeria is clarifying information about the presence of Ukrainian citizens among the sailors captured by pirates off the coast of Cameroon, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The embassy reported this.
The diplomats noted that they are aware of information previously disseminated in the media about eight captured Ukrainians from the crew of the ship, which was in a roadstead near the city of Douala.
“We are directly clarifying this information. Now we are contacting the competent authorities of Cameroon, the owners of the vessel, to find out this information,” the embassy noted.
Let us remind you that earlier today information appeared that unknown persons had kidnapped sailors from European and Asian countries in Cameroon. It is reported that it was probably done by Nigerian pirates. It was also reported that among those abducted were 8 Ukrainians.
