In a water park in Sevastopol, a child became disabled - the guilty manager received two years of forced labor
The former director of the Zurbagan water park in Sevastopol received two years of forced labor - after an emergency occurred in the establishment he led: a little boy became disabled after choking in a pool where there were no lifeguards.
Judicial consideration of the case, initiated under the article “provision of services that do not meet safety requirements” took place two years after the incident. In July 2022, a 6-year-old boy walked unhindered into the adult pool area, jumped into the water, and was unable to swim out.
“In the short time that the child was in the pool, clinical death occurred. The boy was pulled out by visitors to the water park and an ambulance was called. Themselves The water park workers did not provide rescue measures or medical assistance to the victim. The medical office of the water park was closed at the indicated time, the regular doctor was not at work,” reported the press service of the Gagarinsky District Court of Sevastopol, where the case was being considered.
Before the ambulance arrives resuscitation measures were carried out by one of the water park visitors. The boy was taken to intensive care by ambulance. He was diagnosed cardiac arrest, pulmonary edema, cerebral edema, pneumonia. The totality of all the injuries received was qualified by a forensic expert as serious harm to health.
The director of the water park was found guilty of failing to ensure the safety of visitors, a medical worker and a special rescue post. In the water park, instead of lifeguard instructors, there were minors who had no idea about first aid or the rules for using attractions. The children swimming were not monitored by lifeguards.
The director was sentenced to 2 years of forced labor with deduction of 20% of the salary to the state.
