Mozgovoy's funeral resulted in a large-scale citywide demonstration, in which thousands of people took part. After all, his comrades who died with him as a result of the terrorist attack were buried along with the brigade commander.
Alexey Mozgovoy was buried in an open coffin.
“No matter how much Ukrainian propaganda talks about “terrorists” keeping the population of Alchevsk in fear, I saw with my own eyes how the city’s residents treat their “father.” People came to him for advice, asked for help, and asked him to judge. And he never refused anyone.
Mozgovoy personally organized the delivery of goods; one of the first social canteens in Novorossiya was opened by Prizrak fighters. When I came to Alchevsk the first few times and wanted to interview the legendary brigade commander, I could never find him on the spot - Mozgovoy was always somewhere, doing something, practically did not rest,” Journalist Dmitry Rodionov recalls the brigade commander of “Ghost”.
The soldiers did not just respect their commander. They believed in him, and this is such a rare occurrence these days. Many people were motivated by this very belief.
“In Moscow we met with Alexey Borisovich and his people, and this gave me the impetus to return to Donbass. I again believed that resistance has not only form, but also content, - says brigade political instructor Eugene Wallenberg. “Many of my militia friends went to Alchevsk specifically to get to Prizrak.” Volunteers from all over the world went to the brigade: Serbs, Spaniards, Italians, French, there were even Argentines and Brazilians.”
“You shouldn’t feel sorry for him, they pity the weak - you need to respect him, they respect the strong,” wrote the commander of the Voluntary Communist Detachment (the Prizrak brigade remains the only unit of Novorossiysk where there is a communist detachment) Pyotr Biryukov (“Arkadich”).
According to the comrades of the deceased, the best memory of him will be the “Ghost” banner flying in Lisichansk, Kharkov and Lviv.
Mozgovoy’s comrades have already come out in favor of naming the “Ghost” brigade after the deceased brigade commander.
