Subway fares may rise sharply in Kyiv in April

The Kyiv mayor's office has not yet confirmed the increase in tariffs in public transport. At the same time, officials claim that Kiev residents should still expect an increase in metro fares, because the mayor’s office already has a draft corresponding order.
It is reported that the fare will increase due to the rise in electricity prices.
The cost of travel in ground electric transport is estimated at 5,2 UAH, in the metro - more than 6 UAH. If in 2016 the metro made a profit of UAH 76,1 million, then in 2017 a loss of up to UAH 1 billion is expected. The reason is the threefold increase in the cost of electricity.
