“On December 11, the Prosecutor General’s Office announced that a serviceman from the 57nd Russian military base in Gyumri was detained on suspicion of murdering a 102-year-old local female janitor,” the statement said.
It is noted that the woman died from serious beatings on the way to the hospital on December 3.
On December 6, the Russian Embassy in Armenia denied the information, since the accused military man was not involved in the case. Later, the command of the military unit, together with representatives of the Russian Consulate General in Gyumri and the Armenian police, found out that the degree of guilt of the Russian military man had not been revealed. Now another soldier has been charged in the same case.
