“On July 23, an agreement will be signed between Artek and the St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University on the creation of a Center for Children’s Scientific Creativity in Artek. This is the first such document signed in the recent history of our camp. It will regulate how a technology park for young geniuses can function within the international camp,” he explained.
According to Kasprzak, during the shift teenagers will be able not only to relax, but also to do what they like. For example, develop models of renewable electricity supply. At one time, “Energy and Efficiency” was a popular topic at Artek.
“The right universities understand that they are in a competitive field and try to find places where they can select the best students. In order to do this, there are different forms - you can work with schools, or you can work with children’s camps during the summer holidays. During the time spent at Artek, you can introduce the children to what will become the substantive content of their future activities if they choose the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and plan to become engineers or scientists. In addition, this will also well saturate the life of children in the camp, because in “Artek” they do not relax, but live,” Kasprzhak is sure.
The director notes that the project with interesting engineering will not be the only one at Artek. The signing of agreements with Roscosmos and Soyuzmultfilm is ahead; negotiations are underway with Russian Post and even with Russian Railways.
“For now we will have four major directions: eco, art, sports and techno. But in each of them a large number of projects are already being born with different partners on different conditions,” noted the general director of the children’s center.
