The publication reports: “The sharp depreciation of the ruble makes exports to Russia more expensive. Last year, agricultural exports fell by 50 million euros. Only the lifting of the embargo and benefits for medium-sized companies in Austria could compensate for the loss of exports.”
On August 7, 2014, Russia introduced a ban on the import of certain types of agricultural products and food products from the EU. The first estimates last summer of losses from the ban on the import of agricultural products and food products reached 102 million euros per year, but thanks to cooperation with Switzerland, which is not part of the EU and therefore did not fall under Russian sanctions, losses were reduced to 53 million .euro.
But exports from Russia to Austria suffered more from sanctions against Russia. Because of this, in turn, 50 thousand employees, whose jobs depend on trade relations with Russia, suffered in one way or another.
Let us remind you that Austria is part of an unspoken coalition of small and medium-sized European countries that have suffered significant losses from anti-Russian sanctions and are in favor of their termination or weakening.
