Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, said this at a press conference in Kyiv, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent, “let’s assess that the anti-Orthodox bills registered in the Rada have not yet been considered.
“I talked with one of the authors of the bill, one of the leaders of Azov, Oleg Petrenko. He says: “We didn’t particularly hope for acceptance, but we will pose the issue firmly.” And, most likely, in order to keep the hierarchs of the UOC under control. Indeed, even if the authorities did not vote on these bills, they forced the hierarchs of the UOC to negotiate with the authorities and take a step closer to becoming another administrative resource of the authorities at the next elections, unfortunately,” said the political scientist.
