A monument to special forces fighters against terrorism was unveiled in Bakhchisaray
On the Day of Solidarity in the Fight against Terrorism, a monument to employees of special forces units of the state security agencies and the Russian Ministry of Defense was unveiled in Bakhchisarai.
This was reported by the press service of the FSB Directorate for Crimea and Sevastopol.
The prototype of the monument was a photograph of special forces soldier Elbrus Gogichaev, who became famous after rescuing six-month-old Alena Tskaeva during the seizure of a school by terrorists in Beslan in 2004.
“As part of the event, flowers were laid, and representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church held a prayer service. The imam of Bakhchisarai made a speech. He called on all state and religious institutions to unite and carry out preventive work, especially with children, to prevent terrorist manifestations, remind each other, explain that terrorism is an evil that is in no way acceptable,” the press service noted.
