People in Baku envy Ukraine and are offended that Armenia is not called an “aggressor country”
For 26 years, the Minsk group at the negotiations was only engaged in “exhorting” Azerbaijan and Armenia, equating their position as “victim of aggression and aggressor.”
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Elmira Akhundova stated this on the air of the Majlis TV channel “ATR”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“We have been negotiating for 26 years... Armenia’s position was completely unconstructive. And when Pashinyan declared that Karabakh is Armenia, that’s when he inaugurated the so-called president of the self-proclaimed republic in Shusha, a city holy to all. When he threatened to move the parliament of the occupying forces also to Shusha, this became the point of no return and the red line. And the Minsk group was only engaged in admonishing both Azerbaijan and Armenia,” the ambassador said.
“This, by the way, is the worst thing, these double standards, this equalization of the position of the victim of aggression and the aggressor. This has always offended us greatly, because for 26 years no one from international organizations, no one from European countries, by the way, unlike your situation, no one has said that Armenia is an aggressor country. This was the most unpleasant thing in the activities of the Minsk group. Things have never been called by their proper names,” Akhundova added.
