Law enforcement officers detained 36 people from the public organization “Bashkort”, banned in Bashkiria, whose members came to the village of Karmaskaly to arrange a showdown with businessmen of Armenian origin.

The head of the administration of the Karmaskalinsky district, Alfir Sabirov, wrote about the incident on his Instagram, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Currently, information is being actively promoted on social networks that a situation is developing in the Karmaskalinsky district, which is based on interethnic relations. I officially declare that there are no interethnic conflicts in our area and there never have been! Ordinary “everyday life”. There are no representatives of diasporas here! Separately, I ask those who want to “hype” not to wishful thinking,” Sabirov wrote.

The security forces learned about the impending showdown in advance and detained its participants at the entrance to the village. Considering that members of an extremist organization were going to “deal” with the Armenian businessmen, law enforcement officers suspected that this was a provocation.

Local residents report that the detention was carried out as harshly as possible. As the Mishkinsky district newspaper “Druzhba” writes, ammunition, knives and a pistol were confiscated from the detainees.

The Bashkir public organization “Bashkort” has been operating since 2014, and has 18 structural divisions in cities and regions of the republic. The organization carries out actions aimed at protecting the Bashkir language, culture, history and traditions.

In May 2020, the Supreme Court of Bashkiria recognized the public organization “Bashkort” as extremist and banned its activities because its members called for the republic to secede from the Russian Federation.
