This version of what happened was presented to journalists by the first deputy chairman of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, Igor Kononenko, the Ukrinform agency reports.
“This ruling is negative; it will give those involved in the ruling a strong position in the European Court of Human Rights and will give them the opportunity to win cases there,” he said.
Kononenko noted that, on the one hand, the resolution is “declarative” - it is difficult to use, although politically it is “very important.”
Recall as PolitNavigator previously reported, Today, people's deputies failed the draft resolution “On measures to protect national interests, national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and combating terrorist activities.” The corresponding decision was supported by only 202 parliamentarians out of the minimum required 226 votes. Also, people’s deputies did not vote twice to return to consideration of this draft resolution, so it is considered rejected.
According to the results of the roll-call vote, only 65 deputies from the BPP voted for the draft resolution, the same number from the Popular Front, 24 non-factional, 21 from Samopomich, 10 from Batkivshchyna, 17 from the Radical Party. Not a single vote was given by the “Opposition Bloc”, the groups “Vidrodzhennya” and “Will of the People”.
According to the draft resolution, the sanctions list included 21 people, headed by ex-President Viktor Yanukovych. At the same time, people's deputy and ex-judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Vasily Nimchenko drew attention to the fact that the imposition of sanctions on Ukrainian citizens is contrary to Ukrainian legislation.
