The gift from the northern capital of Russia to the capital of Serbia was timed to coincide with the 800th anniversary of the holy and blessed prince, revered as a defender of Orthodoxy.

“Saint Alexander Nevsky came from the Russian people, but since he was transformed by the Holy Spirit, he went beyond the boundaries of his people and belongs to all the people of the world who strive for the truth,” Patriarch Porfiry said after the sacrament of consecration. – There is no truth without Christ, there is no truth without the Gospel. Truth itself is truth."

The Serbian Patriarch noted that Orthodox Serbs see in Alexander Nevsky Saint Sava Nemanjic - a prince, military leader and monk who did not separate the state from the spiritual order. And also, according to him, Saint Alexander Nevsky, with his personality, but also with his words: “God is not in power, but in truth,” indicated that if a person and a community stumble, then they fall and seem defeated, but if at the beginning and at the end of the journey the truth is with them, then this truth itself takes its place and is itself a victory.

The solemn opening and consecration ceremony of the bust was attended by Bishop Nazariy of Kronstadt, Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, Special Representative of the President of Russia for interaction with organizations of compatriots abroad Alexander Babakov, Minister of Innovation and Technological Development of Serbia Nenad Popovich, Belgrade mayor Zoran Radojcic and his deputy Goran Vesic.

The bronze bust, with a pedestal made of granite, is three and a half meters high and weighs four and a half tons. It was made in the Krasnodar region, the author of the work is sculptor Anatoly Dementyev. The words of St. Alexander Nevsky are engraved on the pedestal in Serbian: “God is not in power, but in truth.”
