In Belarus, American diplomats switched to Hitler salutes
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus added the exclamation “Long Live Belarus” to the list of Nazi symbols and paraphernalia, which is accompanied by raising the right hand with the palm straightened.
This is stated in the department’s resolution, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In the document, this exclamation, together with the corresponding gesture, is called a collaborationist greeting. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus recalled that this greeting was used by the 13th Belarusian police battalion and the 30th Grenadier Division “Waffen-SS” along with the Nazi “Heil Hitler”.
The list of Nazi symbols and paraphernalia in Belarus now consists of 52 items. Last year, the red and white flag of Belarusian nationalists, which was actively used at Belomaidan in 2020, was included in it.
“Belarusians are great! They call things by their proper names. A lesson for us, Russian legislators!” wrote Russian State Duma deputy Oleg Morozov in his TG channel.
The US Embassy immediately responded to the decision of the Belarusian law enforcement officers.
“Long live Belarus,” American diplomats tweeted.
