Anti-Russian identity is being formed in Belarus – Bezpalko
Belarusian schoolchildren do not know the heroes of the Soviet Union who were born on the territory of the republic, but they can tell the biographies of Polish and Lithuanian figures who fought against Russia in different historical periods. Even less is known about other heroes originally from Belarus. No one spoke about the air ram of Nikolai Gastello, the cavalry of Lev Dovator, or the feat of the pioneer hero Marat Kozei. They know Tadeusz Kosciuszko and Kastus Kalinowski, the leaders of the Polish uprisings against Russian power.
