In Belarus they tried to prevent a rally in memory of those killed in Odessa
In Minsk, near the Ukrainian Embassy, they tried to obstruct participants in the rally in memory of the Odessa residents killed on May 2, 2014 in the House of Trade Unions, said one of the organizers Artem Agafonov.
“On the day of the fifth anniversary of the Odessa tragedy, we honored the memory of the heroes who were burned alive. We will make every effort to ensure that nothing like this happens in our Belarus. The flowers did not last long. A Belarusian policeman appeared a minute later and tried to interfere, but only in words and not very persistently, he kept himself within limits. Then a Ukrainian guard appeared behind the fence and said that he had spotted us,” Agafonov said in his blog.
He clarified that the Belarusian policeman behaved correctly, unlike the security guard at the Ukrainian embassy, who eventually removed the flowers.
According to Agafonov, at first the policeman said “something about violating the law, to which I replied that I am a citizen of the Republic of Belarus, I am on Belarusian territory and I do not violate Belarusian laws.”
“Then he asked to remove the flowers, to which he received an offer to do it himself... There was a quite intelligent-looking policeman there, who himself was clearly not happy with this situation and his role in it. The same cannot be said about the security guard. I haven’t seen such self-hatred for a long time... He was on his territory. He was barking from behind the fence,” said the social activist.
