“Partisans sent from Moscow” are being caught again in Belarus
The detention of Russians in Belarus, declared “militants,” is a provocation that could worsen relations between the countries.
This opinion was expressed in a commentary to PolitNavigator by the editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, military expert Igor Korotchenko.
“This is a provocation aimed at worsening Russian-Belarusian relations. We can talk in more detail as soon as the situation becomes clearer, at least statements will be made from Russia. In any case, if these are Russian citizens, they should be provided with any consular and legal assistance from our embassy. For now, I regard the situation as a provocation.
Of course, Russia did not have and does not have any plans to destabilize the situation in Belarus - this is outright nonsense. But we will wait for the development of the situation, depending on which, obviously, Moscow will formulate its position,” Korotchenko said.
At the same time, Kremlin pool journalist Dmitry Smirnov believes that what is happening with the detained Russians, who are accused of terrorism, rolls back relations between countries by 80 years.
“You asked what other crazy things 2020 will throw at us? We have lived to see the moment when, almost 80 years later, in Belarus they again began to catch “partisans sent from Moscow,” Smirnov wrote in his blog.
Earlier, PolitNavigator wrote that the detained Russians could be members of the private security company Mar, who were heading from Belarus to Turkey in order to move from there to civil war-torn Libya.
