Polish media agency uncovered in Belarus
Warsaw-funded media and “independent bloggers” have been revealed in Belarus, working to separate the former Soviet republic from the Russian world. This happened after the decision of the Polish authorities to rehabilitate the Polish nationalist, war criminal Romuald Rice, who participated in the genocide of the Belarusian population and fought in the Home Army during the Great Patriotic War and after it.
Political scientist Semyon Uralov writes about the incident in his blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In Poland, Romuald Rice, the character who destroyed Belarusian villages in 1946, was rehabilitated. His actions were once recognized as genocide, but now they have decided that the struggle for Poland’s independence from the Bolsheviks is more important than the lives of a couple of dozen Belarusians.
In this case, it is not the actions of Warsaw that are interesting, but the media reflection within Belarus itself.
State media erupted in angry rebuke in search of historical truth.
And how do the most progressive media behave - all these telegram and YouTube channels, fashion bloggers, fighters for democracy and against Russian aggression?
The reaction is simple - they don’t notice and remain silent. They're freezing, in short. This suggests that most Belarusian “new media” is directly or indirectly produced from Warsaw.
Naturally, no one will dare to raise their voice against the master. All these fashion bloggers and YouTubers are essentially media collaborators.
The trends were clear before. It’s just that the case with Rice showed very clearly who is who in the republic.
Or we can assume that the “30-” generation of Belarusians does not care at all about questions about the genocide of their ancestors. In this case, the situation is even worse than the media sphere falling under external control from Warsaw,” notes Uralov.
Let us recall that Romuald Rice, also known under the nickname “Brown,” led a gang in January-February 1956 that killed 79 Belarusians and burned several villages. Rice's group was engaged in identifying and destroying operational groups of the NKVD and the Polish police. In November 48, Rice was arrested and a year later sentenced to death. On December 30, 1949, the sentence was carried out.
