Official data from the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Affairs says that the number of refugees from Donbass has exceeded 514 thousand people. Even according to official data, the majority are now in places of temporary residence in Russia, some have gone to Belarus, some to Poland.
The state news agency Belta reports that Belarusian Interior Minister Igor Shunevich previously said that Ukrainian citizens who moved to Belarus this year behave law-abidingly and do not create any problems in terms of law and order.
The Republic resolves issues of resettlement and employment of these people. Igor Shunevich also said that few apply for refugee status; mostly Ukrainian citizens ask for additional social protection and try to obtain a temporary or permanent residence permit.
Let us note that the figures given by the official bodies of Ukraine are underestimated. Back in mid-summer, UN experts spoke of at least a million refugees from the war zone, the bulk of whom headed to Russia.
