Belarusian nationalists are cringing at the solidarity of Belarusians and Russians during the World Cup.
A publicist from Minsk, Alexey Dzermant, spoke about this on the channel of the SONAR-2050 website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Personally, I observed massive enthusiasm about Russia’s successes. People walked around with flags, social networks wrote: “Ours are winning”, “Forward, Russia!” That is, it was clear that, relatively speaking, the backbone of Belarusian society was very worried about Russia, and this was a mass movement,” said the Belarusian.
The publicist noted that it was Belarusian nationalists who tried to politicize the situation, who were unhappy with the fact that most of the country sympathized with Russia.
“Our society is very pro-Russian, but this makes nationalists cringe. They use any information source to refute this. They supported these stupid gestures of the Croatian football player. But in general, Belarusian society has a request for a confident, winning Russia,” Dzermant said.
