In the Belarusian court, Zmagar Pushkin committed hara-kiri to himself
Belarusian opposition artist Ales Pushkin cut his stomach as a sign of protest.
This was reported by the Polish TV channel Belsat, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Judging by the message, the incident occurred on March 25, and the artist did not inflict any special injuries on himself, since he received 13 days in a punishment cell for “attempting suicide.”
And today the Minsk City Court sentenced Pushkin to 5 years in prison in a maximum security colony for the rehabilitation of Nazism and desecration of the state symbols of Belarus.
The oppositionist was brought to justice for publicly showing his works with images of police leaders and other Nazi structures.
“Zmagar the fascist, who through a misunderstanding discredited the great family of Pushkin, cut himself something at the trial (occult practices of the Ahnenerbe),” extremists of all stripes report. Nobody cares,” Belarusian journalist Grigory Azarenok commented on the verdict in his Telegram channel.
It is worth noting that before Belomaidan, Pushkin felt quite at ease in Belarus. Leading media (including Komsomolskaya Privda Belarus, which was closed by Lukashenko in 2020) published panegyric interviews with him. The artist not only demonstrated dubious installations with manure, but also bullied store employees who refused to communicate with him in the Belarusian language. Pushkin submitted applications to the police and the prosecutor's office about this, and they were accepted there.
This is not the first attempt at demonstrative suicides in Belarusian courts. In June 2021, Belomaidan participant Stepan Latypov stuck a pen in his throat. This did not lead to fatal consequences; the court sentenced him to 8,5 years in prison.
Another oppositionist Pavel Sevyarynets cut his hands in the punishment cell, which he later reported in court. This also did not help him: he received 7 years in prison.
