German journalist Carl Cullas reported this on social networks.
“According to Spiegel Online, the German government wants to officially distance itself from the Bundestag resolution recognizing the Armenian genocide by Turkey. Officially, the decision is connected with an attempt to obtain permission from Ankara for German deputies to visit the base in Incerlik, where German military personnel are located,” he writes on his page on the social network.
The reality is different, the journalist claims. According to him, both the Chancellor and German Foreign Minister Steinmeier have always been against recognizing the Armenian genocide.
“The official distancing is an attempt to return relations with Erdogan, who in Berlin has been tipped to be in power for many, many years, back on track,” states the German journalist.
