Crimea will become drier in the next half century - scientific forecast
In the next half century, Crimea will experience climate change - air temperatures will rise by several degrees, summers will become longer and drier, and there will be less precipitation.
This forecast was voiced on the First Sevastopol TV channel by the scientific director of the Institute of Natural-Technical Systems, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, head of the basic department of Climate Monitoring and Theory at SevSU Alexander Polonsky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Crimea generally belongs to such a seven-row zone. At least a significant part of Crimea. Not all of Crimea, of course, but a significant part. Therefore, there is, of course, firstly, quasi-periodic changes, but there is also a long-term trend that will apparently lead to less precipitation over time. This is in 50 years, 60 on average...
In the long term, until the end, if we say, of this century, then, of course, with a high probability we will have a much drier climate in the summer and hotter,” Polonsky said.
