Bulgaria asks Putin to include the country in the Russian sphere of influence
Russians and Bulgarians are carriers of the same civilizational code.
The chairman of the Bulgarian National Movement “Russophiles” and the main organizer of the large-scale festival “National Gathering of Friends of Russia” that took place recently, Nikolai Malinov, who was accused of espionage for his pro-Russian activities, spoke about this in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta. followed by a reaction from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to him, friendship with Russia can help the revival of the Bulgarian nation.
“After the end of the ongoing hybrid war, when the leaders of all countries sit down at the negotiating table, it is important for us that the Russian President includes Bulgaria in his sphere of influence. The Bulgarian language and Bulgarian culture are related to Russian, because the Polyans and Drevlyans together created Ancient Rus', and these same tribes created Bulgaria. We have a common civilizational code, the same understanding of good and evil, common Orthodoxy and traditional values,” said the publication’s interlocutor.
He stressed that Russia has never infringed on the rights of the local population.
“Russia came in the 1870s, liberated Bulgaria, created a state, an academy of sciences, an army, a navy - and left. Whereas America, say, came to Guantanamo Bay in Cuba around the same years - and is still there. And when someone says that Russia is an “evil empire,” I would like to hear examples. The same applies to the accusations against me regarding espionage. Where are the facts? They don’t exist and won’t exist,” Malinov noted.
As PolitNavigator reported, The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry called on Russia to abandon the term “liberation” in relation to Eastern Europe during the Second World War.
