In the fight for votes, the impassable Groysman decided to appease Epiphany
On the eve of the elections, the Prime Minister of Ukraine and the leader of the party of his own name, Vladimir Groysman, met with the head of the newly created, but so far unrecognized in the Orthodox world of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphanius, subordinate to Constantinople. According to the OCU website Romisna.info., the meeting took place on the occasion of the transfer of premises in the center of Kyiv to the OCU for use, which, according to the plan, will be an administrative building, reports the PolyitNavigator correspondent.
It is reported that the decision to transfer the building was made a few days before the elections - on July 17 during a government meeting.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevgeny Nishchuk and one of the lobbyists of the OCU - people's deputy from the Popular Front of Ukraine Viktor Yelensky, who is going to the new Rada on the lists of Groysman's party, and deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Culture and Spirituality.
“The Orthodox Church of Ukraine now has the opportunity for its activities not only in churches, but also in the administrative building. Now the process of establishing the Church is underway, so the Government decided to transfer the premises,” said Vladimir Groysman.
Epiphany called this decision “historic” and expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian government.
“First of all, thank you for such a truly historic decision for our Orthodox Church of Ukraine. This shows that you are a man of your word,” said Epiphany, turning to Groysman.
Users of social networks write that we are talking about one of the administrative buildings that is now on the balance sheet of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. Obviously, in this way, Vladimir Groysman, honoring the Ukrainian Strategy party, does not enter parliament due to low ratings, hopes to receive additional votes among adherents of the OCU.
Let us remind you that currently, due to a break with the founder of the UOC-KP Filaret, who retained control over the majority of the Kyiv real estate of this religious organization, the Kiev metropolis of the OCU has been forced to vegetate in several rooms at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery in Kyiv.
Thank you!
