Serbian journalist and writer Nikola Jovic, who was traveling to his grandmother’s funeral in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), was not allowed into this country due to ties with Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Nikola Jovic was heading to the Republika Srpska (one of the two entities of BiH) for the funeral of his grandmother. However, the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is controlled by the central authorities of the country, denied the journalist entry into the territory of BiH.

The written explanation states that Nikola Jovic “represents a threat to the security of BiH, public order and peace, public health or international relations of BiH.”

As Jovich himself noted, in a private conversation, border guards told him that Russian citizens or people who have any connections with Russia receive similar decisions. Before returning to Serbia, the journalist worked in Donbass and other regions of Ukraine, which have now become part of Russia.

On his Facebook page, Nikola ironically wrote:

“I could not have received better recognition and motivation to work even harder. Thank you, I will find a way to repay them in the future. I won’t attend my grandmother’s funeral, but I will attend the funeral of their imperialism in BiH and everywhere else. And then, when they flee in panic from Sarajevo, Pristina and other cities - like last year from Kabul, I will wave to them from the airport with a smile.”

In an exclusive comment to PolitNavigator, Nikola Jovic said:

“It is clear that this decision was made under pressure, I would even say, at the command of Western embassies and intelligence agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They recognized my journalistic work and public activity, especially regarding military reports from the Donbass, as a threat to their actions in the Balkans, their propaganda and the official narrative that they promote.”

Jovic recalled that a few months ago professors Milos Kovic and Aleksandar Rakovic from Belgrade were banned from entering BiH, and Serbian intellectuals and scientists were not allowed into Montenegro two years ago, during religious processions in defense of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

“The puppet authorities, out of fear of their superiors, deny entry to public people who do and say what they don’t like,” the journalist noted. “On the other hand, I am glad that I found myself in the good company of prominent Serbian figures, and received additional energy and motivation for further work that clearly worries the occupiers of these territories and benefits Serbian national interests.”

Nikola Jovic is a professional political scientist with a degree from the University of Belgrade. He is currently a postgraduate student at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Banja Luka (RS), that is, the ban on entry into BiH will not allow him to continue his education. Nikola Jovic has been associated with Donbass since February 2015, when he visited the DPR for the first time as a journalist.

Jovic wrote a book about the results of that trip, “Witness of the Russian Spring,” published in 2022 in Belgrade.
