In Brussels they explained why the elections to the European Parliament are dangerous for Ukraine
The strengthening of the positions of Eurosceptics following the results of the elections to the European Parliament, which will be held in May this year, may weaken the anti-Russian unity of the EU.
Anthony Egan, an expert at the Brussels analytical center Open Europe, stated this in a commentary to the Kyiv online newspaper Strana.
“If the far right, or Eurosceptics, strengthen their positions in the elections to the European Parliament, this will jeopardize the European project itself. In addition, Europe's unified position on many issues, such as sanctions against Russia, may weaken. After all, the majority of the right is friendly towards the Kremlin, believing that European economies are losing more from anti-Russian sanctions. As for supporting Ukraine, this issue may fade into the background,” the expert said.
